These Building additions and replacement of our Asbestos Roof, have been funded by Grants From the Sunshine Coast council & the Gambling Community Benefit Fund to whom we are truly grateful.
This project has allowed us to replace the dangerous asbestos roof at the clubhouse and to join two existing buildings so as to increase the usable space for the lapidary club and rock museum at Caloundra Lapidary Club Inc. It will achieve better 'risk management and improved 'duty of care' for the members, it will achieve increased usable space and therefore enhance participation and sustainability by allowing room for new members and adequate equipment space. The fitting of fans, adequate lighting and building new work benches for Faceting has made for a much better environment to teach and hand on the skills of the club. The new pavers have given us paths and outdoor areas around and between our buildings, with much improved wet weather parking .
The club members contributed by laying of 160 sq. mt of brick pavers, painting the
new extension, all the internal and external walls and grills of the clubroom . Building
the new tables, benches and security grills.
