Emmaville is located 39km North of Glen Innes. Fossicking in and around Emmaville for a multitude of minerals, makes Emmaville a popular stop along The Fossicker's Way.
In it's heyday of the early 1900s, Emmaville boasted a population of around 7000. Known mainly for tin, there were also two silver mines and one emerald mine. Topaz and quartz crystals are still to be found in the region.
Today Emmaville is a quiet little country town with a population of around 300, but the Emmaville Mining Museum which opened in 1999 has made the town well renowned around Australia and internationally.
