Club Activities - Cabbing

Cutting Cabochons - pronounced: kab-uh-shons but affectionately known as cabbing, is the art of shaping and polishing gemstones as opposed to faceting them.

Cabs are ususally made from opaque gems and stones while faceting is usually done with clear stones.

You'll be surprised and amazed that even the plainest piece of "rock" can polish up a treat!

Come down and check out the club facilities. Club open day every Saturday from 9:00am to 12:00pm - all welcome!

Interested in learning cabbing? Beginners' classes held Tuesday nights and two other classes with instruction are held every week. Our wonderful instructors Greg and Doug are there to help and guide you every step of the way! There's also many friendly, experienced members, always willing to give some advice and help in any way they can.
